Everything was centered around the mineral deal that Ukraine was to sign with the US in order to facilitate peace talks between Ukraine, Russia and US.
The tension started when Vance accused Zelensky of being disrespectful to Trump with his recent statements in press and for his manner of approach to the meeting.
Vance asked him if it was ‘respectful to come to the Oval Office of the USA and attack the administration that was trying to prevent the destruction of his country’.
It got worse when Trump told Zelensky that he was ‘toying with the lives of millions of Ukrainians’ and he was ‘gambling with World War III’ he told him that he wasn't allowed to talk when Zelenksy tried to interject him mid-speech.
In sum, trump added that Ukraine was in ‘big trouble and wasn’t winning this’ when referring to the war with Russia in his bid to get Ukraine to sign the mineral deal and facilitate peace talks.
